As illustrated in the Declaration of Independence, Jefferson had particular talent with words. Shockingly for him, sentences that streamed easily from his plume generally stalled out in his throat.
On April 13, 1743, Jefferson was born at Shad well Plantation, Virginia. He had gained about five thousands sections of land from his self-made father and about twenty two slaves. When he was twenty eight years old, Jefferson raised his land and also gained ownership of about one hundred and fifty slaves via his partnering with the widow widow Martha Wayles Skeleton.
